Pinchvalve: I'm sorry you had such a bad experience at Bado's. Every time I've been out there, I've been pleased. I tend to run into one of a consistent set of server's teach time, and they all tend to be quite attentive.

Based on your negative experience, I wonder if they've started to slip. I actually do seem to remember noting that a few things just weren't what they used to be the last time I was out there. The beer list was starting to fall off, and many of the regular wait staff weren't around.

I'd be interested to know whether others have noticed a problem.

I heard a lot about Bados and live nearby so I checked it out. I was with my 10-year old daughter, and went for lunch on a quiet Saturday. We were seated in the bar area, which was odd because you don't normally sit kids near people drinking (and swearing) at the bar. We then sat for 15 minutes without any attention whatsoever. The hostess was sitting 2 tables away doing side work, but decided to ignore us. She walked past us seating other customers and saw that we had no drinks or food, but did nothing. A woman with dark hair, who I assumed was a manager, was also walking around and socializing, but decided to ignore us as well.

I finally told the hostess that we still had no waitress, and could she please seat us in the restaurant half of the place where we might get some service. You would think that she might have responded with an apology and made sure we got some service, fast! Nope, just moved us to a new table and went back to ignoring the problem. We sat for another 10 minutes before anyone came by, and yes, other waitresses were walking past us and yes, other parties that came in well after us were eating.

When we finally got a waitress, she was very sullen and not friendly at all. She was not impressed that we had waited so long and offered no apologies, no smile...nothing. We waited for our food, we waited for our check, we waited for our receipt. Forget drink refills, not going to happen at this place.

Normally, I would never put up with such poor service but I was curious about the food quality. After all that, it was only OK. Certainly nothing to get excited about and certainly not worth the aggravation to get it. I understand a person having a bad day, but this place is obviously not run well. I will not be going back.
