There are quite a few restaurants worth the try for dinner in Downtown, but they aren't necessarily cheap. Try 9 on Nine for a truly upscale (and pricey) special occassion meal. And make sure you have at least 2-3 hours set aside for that meal.

Eleven and Kaya in the Strip are excellent as well.

6Penn is not one my faves but is a solid choice for a pre or post-theater meal. Recently we tried Cafe Zao, which was good but overly pricey imho.

Olive or Twist makes a mean grilled cheese with tomato soup and Lemongrass has been there for ages and others rave about it (i've never been). There's a small greek place next door to Lemongrass whose name I forget but its an adorably kitchsy location with authentic greek food.

Bossa Nova, Ceviche, and Sonoma Grille are yet other places to try. There are several upscale italian restaurants in the vicinity too.

And if you decide to go to Mortons for a steak please don't let Mike review it, I can assure you it won't be veggie friendly (but will be very carnivore friendly!)

Haha, thanks for putting my picture up! I'm famous now :)

I'm the one who got the steak frites—it was good, but not nearly as good as Point Brugge steak frites!

Are there any restaurants downtown that are worth a try for dinner?

I have been to Palomino multiple times, hoping each time that it will suprise me and be excellent....but is never had been anything but a disappointment. Do not waste even $5 on the pizza. It would seem with the brick oven it would be delicious, but it is tasteless. I have tried multiple kinds too. The sangria is ok, as far as a drink but I would prefer to make it myself or have a tasty pitcher at Mallorca in the summer. :)

The only good thing I have had there is dessert.....they have a rotating hot "crumble" and I have had it a few times, different varieties and all have been tasty and not too decadent.

I work at PPG and Palamino is right across the street. A lot of times vendors will take us there for lunch. I really like the food but agree that it is a little pricey. My lunch on Tuesday was $18. On the other hand my manager took us out so I did not have to worry about paying, maybe the food just tastes better when you are not thinking about how much you are paying for it.
